Opportunistic Onslaught

Illustration developed for the PalaeoArt Exhibition "Paleontology of the Brazilian Northeast”, organized by the amazing crew of colecionadoresdeossos.com, taking place during the PaleoNE 2017 Congress of Paleontology (Bahia, Brazil).

And, of course, I must participate! This is the artwork that will be participating in the contest and will be on display during the exhibition at UFBA (Federal University of Bahia), called "Opportunistic Onslaught”.

The scene, located at 110Myr in the Santana formation, demonstrates a competition for food between an Irritator challengeri / Angaturama limai and a Tupuxuara longicristatus, where the theropod may be even more successful if it captures the pterosaur in addition to the fish (Cladocyclus). Also appearing in the scene with them, there’re some aves, ferns (possibly Weichselia reticulata) and conifers (Brachyphyllum obesum).
